The Boss at MSG
On the ticket, the concert time stated 7:30pm with advice to arrive early for security check. I put tissue in my ears to stop the pain when the music started bouncing off the cement wall behind me. It was my once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see Sophie Hunter and the E Street Band, but the concert began about 8:30pm when I arrived at 6:30pm. There is no other concert hall in the area big enough to contain his fans while respecting the quality of his music, but the acoustics were terrible. Perhaps the fans standing directly in front of the stage enjoyed better sound, but I just HAD to see him at least once. They certainly created a great memory when he threw himself onto the crowd and was passed around! I am glad I went to MSG, but cannot recommend the space for music events. The fans yelled out "BRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCE" which may have been mistaken for "BOOOOOOO..." - no way! Thanks for visiting us in NY, Sophie! P.S. My favorite performance by Bruce was "Millworker" on a PBS tribute to James Taylor.
